Using RJ11 Cables 

RJ11 cable are used for telephone wires termination. RJ11 is a kind of physical interface which is used for single line registered jack. There are available other interfaces like RJ14 and RJ 25. The former is used for two lines whereas the latter is used for three lines. All these interfaces use a connecter called modular connecter for establishing connections with these interfaces. The connections are same for all these interfaces but the difference in the number of connections. A RJ11 cable will makes only two contacts with the connecter.  
Now we have a look at how the wiring of a RJ11 cable is done. RJ11 cable is known to have six positions and four connections which are more popularly called as 6P4C. There are present four parallel wires which meet inside a box like structure known as junction box. Though there is a possibility of six connections but only two are made in case of RJ11 cables.  
The two connections which are made are known as tip and ring. Other variations of the cable which can be used are 6P2C and 6P6C. One can buy any of them keeping in mind his requirements. The different functions performed by different conductors are selective ringer; tone dialing and few others.RJ11 cables are also available in powered versions. In the powered version pin numbers 2 and 5 are held responsible for carrying power. The power could be either AC or DC. RJ11 cable are capable of providing good quality services for a longer duration.
