F7: One Day to Stop HillarySwitch to Stop Obama
Why F7?

F7: One Day to Stop Hillary (and Obama) is a grassroots campaign by Rightroots to mobilize thousands of Republican donors to contribute to our party's nominee on Thursday, February 7, 2008. This critical date falls two days after the "Super Duper Tuesday" primary on February 5th, the soonest (and still most likely) date that the presumptive nominee will be known.

Here's how it works: you take the pledge to make their online contributions to their candidate on February 7th. Leading up to the big day, you'll receive periodic updates and reminders. And when F7 hits, we'll make history by helping level the fundraising playing field leading into the most important election of our lifetimes.

F7 is a project of Rightroots, the online fundraising clearinghouse for Republican candidates. February 7th contributions will be collected on Rightroots.com and forwarded directly to the presumptive nominee. A live counter will display the progress of this nationwide effort in real time.

The Situation

February 7 is the day online activists like you can upend the dynamic of Election 2008. So far, Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama have dramatically outraised the Republican candidates. As of the last fundraising quarter, Clinton and Obama held an almost 3-to-1 advantage in campaign cash-on-hand over the most likely Republican nominees.

With that kind of staggering money advantage, there is a very real chance that starting in February, Clinton or Obama could bury our nominee in negative ads and prevent him from getting any traction whatsoever after a bruising primary.

It usually takes our nominee weeks to rebuild after a draining primary win. Two months of fundraising events must be scheduled. Mailers must be sent out. All on a shoestring budget.

We don't have that kind of time.

If we don't act, by March, Hillary Clinton or Barack Obama could be the prohibitive favorites to become the 44th President of the United States.

If 2008 is like other years, the Republican nominee will receive a broad outpouring of support from across the country. But it usually takes months for this support to coalesce, with many giving in the frenetic final weeks before the end of the campaign.

Simply repeating this old pattern would leave our nominee vulnerable. The most valuable campaign contributions are those made early, not late. Our nominee must not go a single day against Clinton or Obama without the resources to defend themselves.

All of that can change on one day: February 7, 2008. Take the pledge. Then come back on February 7th to make history.

What if there is no presumptive nominee by February 7?

In the event there is no consensus Republican nominee after Super Tuesday, February7.org will continue taking pledges until a consensus nominee emerges. Our one-day mass donation drive will be postponed until 48 to 72 hours after the primary, caucus, or other event that clarifies the winner.

Should there be a delay, our efforts become all the more important. By this point, Clinton or Obama will have had the field to themselves with time to establish an advantage over the eventual Republican nominee. Our candidate will need the resources to immediately stand up a general election campaign in shortened timeframe.

Why give through Rightroots.com?

Rightroots has lower overhead than any political fundraising vendor. We transfer your entire contribution to the candidate of your choice, minus 4% to cover credit card processing fees. This usually means that more of your contribution gets to the candidate.
